Among the trees
Between the Trees spans three centuries of painting, sculpture and photography, treating the forest not as a fixed motif but as a shared terrain. Read, recorded and reimagined anew by each generation. Presented by Passage Art at Villa Schöningen and embedded within the historic park landscape of Potsdam, the exhibition unfolds as a dialogue between art, nature, and space – landscape less represented than opened up, a repository of time, transformation, and renewal.
The invitation extended to Passage Art introduces an external curatorial perspective, opening new readings of landscape and its cultural imagery.
The exhibition makes no argument. At a moment when art is so often asked to explain, comment, or take a side, it offers something rarer: a space without thesis, where the forest is given simply to be seen. What it asks is attention; what it returns is beauty, surprise, and the quiet permission to pause.
